It is a specially design Austo-Ferrite low heat electrode with high strength weld deposit, which offers excellent crack resistant. It is suitable for dissimilar metal joints with carbon steels, Hadfield Manganese steel, Armour steel, high carbon, alloy steels and generally hard to weld steels. It is used for tough and wear resistant overlays on all steels. Duplex structure of weld deposit with Austenite and high ferrite gives very good weld strength. Welding arc is stable. Strike and re-strike is very good. Slag is complete and removed easily.
Applications :
For leaf and coil springs. Best for dissimilar metal joints with carbon steels, Hadfield Manganese steel, Armour steel,,medium to high carbon, alloy steels and generally hard to weld steels. Typical applications are splines, threads, key ways of shafts, spur gear tooth, wear plates of hydraulic excavator buckets, gear box main shafts, counter shafts, leaf springs etc.
Procedure :
Rebake the electrodes at 200°C for 1 hour prior to use to prevent blowholes in the weld deposit. Gouge out/grind, worn, damaged and fatigued metal/cracks. Clean weld area. Clamp and tack weld at short intervals. Use electrode on AC/DC+ at the lowest amps. Maintain very short arc and chip slag between passes. Peen the weld deposits while hot. Avoid weaving. Follow the recommended welding parameters to achieve good sound welds. Use lower current for dissimilar-metal joint. Preheat is usually not required unless very heavy sections are involved
